What is the Pacer Jacket?
The Pacer Jacket is a lightweight and packable wind and waterproof Jacket from Rab that can be worn all day, but also pack down small when not in use. Offering the reliable wind and waterproofing from GORE-TEX Active, the Pacer is your breathable, comfortable companion, delivering the stripped back utility you need when out running in the mountains.
What is the Pacer Jacket made from?
The Pacer Jacket uses a three-layer waterproof construction, making full use of GORE-TEX’s highly breathable 13D Active nylon face. The 13D fabric maintains a lightweight design without compromising on the weatherproofing. GORE-TEX Active is a durable, waterproof, windproof and extremely breathable fabric that is perfect for highly aerobic activities in bad weather. The fabric is soft, making for excellent next to skin comfort and offers reliable moisture management which keeps you comfortable by reducing sweat accumulation.
What are the features?
Starting from the top and working our way down, the Pacer features a fixed hood with a roll down tab. The hood is semi elasticated with a stiffened peak and a rear adjustment toggle to help keep the elements at bay and offer an optimal fit. A full-length YKK Vislon Aquaguard front zip keeps the jacket in place and allows for further venting when working hard. In combination with this, open underarm vents offer fantastic levels of breathability and venting. The bottom hem is fully adjustable whilst the cuffs offer adjustment via elasticated sections. Both the cuffs and the lower back have been extended to add additional coverage, offering welcome protection on foul weather runs. Reflective branding details have been added which help to increase visibility if you decide to take the running on-road or after dark.
How does the Pacer Jacket fit?
The Pacer Jacket has been designed around a slim fit and is intended to sit fairly close to the body over a baselayer or other lightweight layer. It has been cut without any excess material to get in the way when moving fast through the mountains, but will still accommodate a lightweight layer underneath.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
The Pacer is your lightweight outer layer for use when trail running. Ideally, it should be worn over a baselayer when a waterproof/windproof layer is needed. Otherwise, it packs down small so it can be stashed in your running pack/waist belt.
How to measure.
Chest: Measure the full circumference of your chest just below your armpits.
Waist: Find the top of your hip and measure the full circumference around your body.
Arm length: Measure horizontally from the centre of your back, across the shoulder, over a naturally bent elbow and down to the wrist fold.
While all our garments are sized to these measurements, you will find that the cut on jackets designed for use in more extreme environments will be slightly more generous in the expectation that these designs will be used with additional/thicker midlayers. If you plan on using a jacket like this with fewer layers beneath it, please keep this in mind when selecting your size.
All garments are designed and fitted to suit their intended end use. See below for a general description of our fit categories:
Regular: Neither slim nor loose. Regular fit items are the perfect balance of form fit and ease of movement.
Slim: A streamlined silhouette. Cut trim following the contours of the body. Expertly placed articulation of seams and the use of stretch fabric ensure maximum freedom of movement in these close-fitting items.
Relaxed: Our more generous fit. Cut loosely through the body allowing for ease of movement and additional layering.
Expedition: Designed specifically to accommodate the layering system and equipment required for high altitude and polar expeditions.
